So it was my moms birthday last night. I don't think she liked my presents. Meh. I got her into digital cameras when I gave her my old Nikon and she's been shooting away ever since. I show her different ways to shoot when ever we are together i.e. shooting from the hip, odd angles, going for the odd crop instead of the whole thing and she really is good. I'm impressed with her stuff which makes me happy.
So I got her a new Polaroid cammy and 30 pieces of film. I told her I was getting into shooting oldschool and then scanning in the film so hopefully she will be inspired by doing something she used to do when she was a kid. I also got her a table-top tripod for shooting from the ground and at dinners she goes to so she doesn't have to use a flash. Hopefully she will get into it. =)
And lastly, the wild card of the bunch, I made her 5 cds that I had really gotten into lately:
Wicker Park Soundtrack
Lost in Translation Soundtrack
Buena Vista Social Club
Hot Hot Heat
Phoenix
hahahaha, we'll see were she goes with those.
So anyways, we went to this greek place and she asked if I wanted a glass of wine and I told her just to get a bottle and I then proceeded to get her torn up beyond belief. She doesn't normally drink that much but we just started talking about everything under the sun. Her business, my business, my girlfriends, her husband, me starting up my own gig with a guy I used to work with for whom I respected immensly... everything.
It was a great time to see her slurring and just not caring about anything. Finally forgetting about the troubles with my grandmother, her friend and my second mom who was diagnosed with fatal cancer, my dad etc etc.
So after almost carying her home and eating some cake, I gave her a kiss on the forehead and left. I'm happy she had a good night. =)
Mental note: never show mom pictures that are on my blog while intoxicated. It turned into an hour long critique of my friends and which ones look like axe murderers, car thiefs and serial killers.
